About Kapap
Kapap
(pronounced ka-PAPP) Krav Panim El Panim - Kapap is the Hebrew acronym for
Face To Face Combat. It is the original combat system of defensive tactics,
hand-to-hand combat and self-defence, employed by the Israeli defense and
security forces, the Israeli national Police, and its special operations and
anti-terrorist units. Its roots Originated in the 1940's fight Tactics used
by the
Palmach, (Jewish Strike Brigades). The forces fighting for the state of
Israel Independence, which later formed the structure and main force to form
Israel's special Units in the conventional Military (IDF) for years to come.
The founder of the modern Israeli Martial Art system of
Kapap is Lieutenant Colonel Chaim Peer, a former member of the Elite Special
Forces Unit
Sayeret Matkal and later on trained other special units in Guerilla
warfare and hand to hand combat tactics and an instructor for the Tel Aviv
University.
Black Belt Magazine and Budo International Magazine first
introduced the system of KAPAP to the west. Budo International Magazine
produced the first video to ever be made about the system. The instructor on
the video was Major Avi Nardia, the only authorized international instructor
on the system outside of the state of Israel. Major Avi Nardia is the only
Israeli to teach “Krav Maga” in the Israeli army, “Hagana Atzmit” at the
Israeli Operational Police Academy, and “Kapap” to the Israeli premiere
counter-terror unit Yamam in Israel. He was even a CQB instructor while in
the reserves. As one of the leading Israeli Close Quarter Battle (CQB)
Instructors, he specializes in training Special Forces, Counter-terror
units, SWAT, SRT Teams and Police Force Patrol’s all over the world, for
both military and law enforcement.
Major Nardia’s other certifications include, Certified
Personal Trainer, Certified Coach, Certified Fitness Instructor, Certified
Athletic Trainer, Certified Sports Therapist, Rappelling Instructor, Diving
Instructor and Shooting Instructor. Major Nardia also has certifications in
the following martial arts, Kendo, Iaido, Jodo, Karate, Muay Thai,
Taehojutsu, Judo, Kyudo, Kickboxing, Krav Maga, Kapap and Lotar.
Major Avi Nardia has taught civilians at Tel-Aviv
University with the founder of the KAPAP system Lt. Colonel Chaim Peer, Bar-Ilan
University and Spivak Handicap Center. The courses ranged from Traditional
Martial Arts as Kendo, to Olympic Fencing and Theatrical Combat. Avi was
also involved with the Israeli Social Service program, teaching KAPAP
–Self-defence to battered women and rape victims. He was also the Israeli
National Rugby team Physiotherapist for 4 years and dealt with many types of
sport injuries. His Mottos are: “Always a student, sometimes a teacher” and
“Better to be a student of reality than a master of illusion.”
Major Nardia is a former member of the
Yamam unit an Elite Israeli counter-terrorism take over unit, he was an
intelligence team member. Takeover units are units whose primary objective
is rescuing hostages, and there are two takeover units, MATKAL and YAMAM.
Engagement units are units whose secondary objective is hostage rescue,
their primary objective being to engage the enemy. Assisting units are units
that help the takeover and engagement units in their missions, providing a
specific specialty.
As a member of the intelligence team, and the CQB -
defensive tactic Instructor, Major Nardia was exposed to a variety of
tactics, training, and scenarios over the last 24 years. In the Israeli army
Avi Nardia earned the rank of Major.
Any time Avi Nardia teaches, he brings with him not just
certifications but also a vast background of experience that he shares with
his students. His background experience combined with the exposure he has
received while teaching all over the globe provides him with the expertise
to differentiate between what the Military sector should be taught, as
opposed to the Law Enforcement and Civilian sectors, and the liabilities
they carry.
Kapap Academy is teaching the following courses: Tactical Shooting,
Defensive Shooting, High Risk Entry, Bus Interdiction, Aircraft
Interdiction, Train Interdiction, Command Post Procedures, Intelligence
Gathering, VIP Protection, Israeli Original Krav Panim El Panim, the
legendary Kapap.
The Kapap Academy was appointed by the Kapap Federation
to certify Kapap Instructors worldwide. The genuine Kapap-Lotar system is
introduced through the first level courses to the International markets by
